Why an Herbal Peel Is Better Than a Chemical Peel
Chemical peels utilize strong acids to combat the signs of aging. A solution is applied to the face, which literally causes it to blister and peel- revealing a new layer of skin underneath. This eliminates fine lines, wrinkles, sunspots, uneven pigmentation and acne. The following is a list of commonly used compounds:
- Alpha Hydroxy- a relatively mild acid that can be found naturally in tomato juice.
- Beta Hydroxy- milder than Alpha hydroxy, but able to get further down into the pores for cleansing.
- Jessner’s
- Retinoic
- Trichloroacetic- this is preferred by patients with darker skin or pigmentation problems
- Phenol- this is the strongest of the acids and it has been known to remove facial freckles and take several months to heal. Patients must avoid sun exposure for the remainder of their lives.
Chemical peels have many inherent risks. The face can be left red and scarred for weeks after the procedure and patients must take extra precautions with the sun. However, an alternative exists.
An herbal peel is used much like a chemical peel. It is a mask applied to the face, and removed, along with lines and blemishes. The difference is that all of the ingredients in the herbal peel are natural. This means that the scarring does not occur, only a slight redness. Recovery time is also much quicker.
If you would like to remove age lines or acne with a less invasive, less abrasive cosmetic procedure, ask your plastic surgeon about herbal peels now.
