Spa treatments are a great way for plastic surgeons to promote their products and services, in a safe environment for current and future patients that wish to have facials and chemical skin peels. At normal spas and salons, most states do not regulate who may/may not provide a skin peel for patrons. Many of the formulas are as strong as the ones provided in the professional setting. Thus, it can be risky for people to let someone, without the proper expertise and training, administer the solution. All chemical peels essentially strip away the skin. The type and strength determines how far the skin peel will go below the surface. A medical professional should be present, in the event of an adverse reaction. For this reason, patients are required to provide medical records and information to the plastic surgeon.
