Medium chemical peels are used for patients who desire effects stronger than a light chemical peel, but cannot deal with the extreme nature of such an undertaking. Medium chemical peels are administered with the use of Trichloroacetic acid. TCA is stronger than the chemicals used in light chemical peels, but not nearly as strong as the phenol chemicals used for deep peels. Multiple treatments for medium peels are common. It treats similar problems the light chemical peel, but is used when they are to a higher degree. These peels are often used to treat skin conditions on areas of the body other than the face.
