Islam Online Provides Answers to Cosmetic Surgery Questions

Friday March 27, 2009

Many devout Muslim women may fear that cosmetic surgery will anger their God, Allah. They are told that vanity will be punished, if it is purely for the sake of vanity. However, the web site, “Islam Online,” provides answers to specific questions for these women, and states that cosmetic procedures are acceptable, if they are used to fix a personal flaw.

For example, a woman who is uncomfortable about the freckles or blemishes that she has on her face is free to have a chemical peel to remove these spots. One Islamic official has said that so long as a procedure is done to “beautify the face for the husband,” it is acceptable. However, hair extensions, plucking eyebrows and getting tattoos are not allowed by Islamic law.

Chemical peels, and also herbal peels can be very useful for removing unsightly marks on patients’ skin. Old acne scars, wrinkles and even birthmarks can literally disappear after one treatment. It is important, however to discuss these options with a licensed plastic surgeon before undergoing a treatment, or attempting a treatment on your own. He or she will be able to provide safety tips and give suggestions. For more information, call your local plastic surgeon today!
